Golf Tip THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION IN GOLF REVEALED!
Topping the golf ball, especially during the late summer when the grass has begun to die out and the ball does not sit up as high, becomes a very common mistake. Golfers instinctively try to help the ball up into the air. They do this by "scooping up on the ball", he over uses his right wrist in a scooping or up ward hinging action. This is a logical thought, but an incorrect concept. This action causes an accelerated motion of the club head upward over the golf ball. Unfortunately the more we top the ball the more we try to help the ball up by scooping, thus producing more topping of the golf ball.
To prevent this, a golfer must focus on his leading left arm to PULL DOWN through the ball. The downward descending motion, produces the desired effects of getting the club head below the ball and creating backspin. Both of these actions produce a high flying golf ball. This descending blow is very evident on the PGA TOUR where we see every player taking a divot with his iron shot from the fairway. (note the divot must be made after impact with the ball) Try this, I think you'll be amazed at how solid you now hit your shots.
